Yarda Agent Platform: Build AI-Powered Landscape Design Into Any Application

Landscape design has always been a visual discipline. You look at a yard, imagine what it could become, and translate that vision into a plan. But the tools available to designers have lagged behind the imagination — until now.

Today we are launching the Yarda Agent Platform: an MCP server and Agent API that lets developers, designers, and AI tool builders integrate professional-grade landscape design directly into their own applications and workflows.

This is not another SaaS dashboard. It is infrastructure. If you are building with AI agents — whether through Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or your own stack — Yarda can now be a tool your agent calls, just like it calls a search engine or a database.

What the Agent Platform Does

At its core, the Yarda Agent Platform exposes three capabilities:

1. MCP Server for Agent Integration

Yarda now speaks the Model Context Protocol. Any MCP-compatible client can discover Yarda's tools and use them natively. That means Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, and the growing ecosystem of MCP-enabled applications can generate landscape designs, pull render data, and manage design projects without custom integration code.

For developers already building on MCP, adding Yarda is as simple as pointing your client at our server endpoint. Your agent gets access to satellite imagery analysis, AI design generation, 2D and 3D rendering, and material selection — all through structured tool calls.

2. Agent API for Custom Workflows

Not using MCP? The Agent API provides RESTful endpoints for the same capabilities. Submit a property address, receive a satellite overview with boundary detection. Request a design with specific parameters — style, budget range, plant hardiness zone, feature preferences — and get back renders you can embed, display, or feed into downstream processes.

The API is stateless and designed for automation. A landscape company could wire it into their CRM: when a new lead comes in, automatically generate a preliminary design and include it in the first outreach email. A real estate platform could generate curb appeal renderings for every listing. A home renovation app could offer landscape design as a feature without building the AI from scratch.

3. Workflow Automation Primitives

Beyond single-shot generation, the platform supports multi-step design workflows. You can programmatically:

  • Analyze a property from its address (satellite imagery, boundary detection, existing features)
  • Generate multiple design concepts with different styles
  • Render 2D plans and 3D perspectives for each concept
  • Export assets sized for specific platforms or print formats
  • Iterate on designs by adjusting parameters

This lets you build end-to-end pipelines. A designer could set up a workflow where every Monday, their top 10 pending client properties get preliminary designs generated automatically, ready for human review by Tuesday morning.

Use Cases We Are Excited About

For landscape designers and firms:

The most immediate use case is acceleration. Instead of spending hours on initial concept sketches, use the API to generate three or four starting points for a client property in minutes. You still do the creative refinement — selecting materials, adjusting layouts, adding the details that make a design yours — but the blank-page problem disappears. Several firms in our beta have reported cutting initial concept time from days to hours.

For platform developers:

If you are building a home improvement marketplace, a real estate tool, or a property management platform, landscape design is a feature your users want but is expensive to build from scratch. The Agent API lets you offer it as a native capability. One integration, and your users get AI landscape design without leaving your product.

For AI agent builders:

The MCP server is particularly interesting here. If you are building an AI assistant that helps homeowners plan renovations, your agent can now call Yarda to handle the landscape portion of the project. The agent does not need to understand landscape design — it delegates to Yarda's specialized models and gets back professional renders and plans it can present to the user.

For automation and content workflows:

Real estate photographers, home staging companies, and content creators can automate the generation of before/after landscape visualizations. Feed in property photos, get back transformation renders. This works at scale — process hundreds of properties in a batch run.

Technical Details

The MCP server implements the standard MCP protocol with tool discovery, structured inputs and outputs, and streaming support for long-running generation tasks. Authentication uses API keys with scoped permissions — you can issue keys that only allow read operations, or keys with full generation access.

The REST API follows conventional patterns: JSON request/response, bearer token auth, webhook callbacks for async operations. Rate limits are generous for the free tier and configurable for paid plans.

All renders are generated by Yarda's own models, trained on professional landscape design data. Output quality matches what you see on yarda.ai — high-resolution 2D plans and photorealistic 3D perspectives.

Documentation lives at docs.yarda.ai/agent-platform, including quickstart guides for MCP integration, REST API reference, and example workflows in Python and TypeScript.

How to Get Started

  1. Sign up at yarda.ai — free accounts include API access
  2. Generate an API key from your dashboard
  3. Choose your integration path: MCP server for agent-native workflows, or REST API for custom applications
  4. Follow the quickstart — most developers have their first design generated within 15 minutes

We have also published a reference implementation showing how to build a simple "design my yard" agent using Claude + Yarda MCP in under 100 lines of code.

What Comes Next

This launch is the foundation. We are actively building on top of it: collaborative design sessions where multiple agents can contribute to a single project, real-time design streaming, and deeper integrations with construction and procurement systems so that a design can flow all the way from concept to material order.

Landscape design is one of the last creative disciplines to get serious AI tooling. We think the agent platform changes that — not by replacing designers, but by giving them infrastructure that matches their ambition.
